While the game is enjoyable for its story and its characters, the game can get a little repetitive and grindy. Like the others have already pointed out, God Eater 3 also comes to mind. If you do, I would advice that you play it on console unless you have a really good PC. One down side to the game is that even though you choose the English option, the audio is still only in Japanese with English subtitles, but I would still highly recommend that you try it out. While Attack on Titan 2 is not a souls-like game, I found that it is remarkably similar to Code Vein in terms of its character customization system its post-apocalypse setting its sizable cast of characters that you can get close to and fight along side with its quite interesting, different, and satisfying combat system and also the fact that your character never says anything in cutscenes (a feature which I personally love).
Games like code vein series#
Sorry for the rambling, but Darksiders is a game series I absolutely adore and any chance I get to recommend it I will take. It takes place way pre-series, and you play as either War or Strife (or switch between them if you're playing solo) as you navigate the different realms of Hell (and, occasionally other worlds) to stop a demonic plot. The closest I can think of to how that one plays is Skylanders, but Darksiders Genesis has a less kid-friendly story. Genesis is actually a potential multi-player game. 3 actually has a really good twist villain that's hinted at throughout the game. You play as Fury, who pretty much got suckered into hunting down the Seven Deadly Sins, even if she thinks she made the choice herself. You play as War, who was framed for ending Earth, with a couple of twists as to who did the framing to begin with.ĭarksiders 2 is a dungeon-crawling adventure game where you play as Death, trying to redeem War, and facing his bloody past along the way.ĭarksiders 3 is technically Soulsborne, but it's easier than Code Vein imo.

The Original Darksiders is a hack-and-slash game with a bit of puzzle solving. It's not quite anime but the story as a whole is excellent and each game is a different genre.
Games like code vein upgrade#
It's a little on the hardcore-ish side but I find it way easier than Code Vein (even on some of its higher difficulties), and the different ways you can upgrade Fury to personalize her playstyle are great.Īctually, check out the Darksiders franchise as a whole.
